Warning
Do not use if there is a risk of the cord getting caught during use, for example on running machines with exposed moving parts. Do not pull the earplugs out by the cord.
Whether your metal detector reliably detects the cord depends on the device, sensitivity and product. Test it with a sample before use.

Why detectable?
In food production, a lost earplug is a foreign body. The brass in the cord makes it traceable for metal detectors on the line. Whether your detector reliably detects the cord depends on the device, sensitivity and product: test it with a sample on your own equipment.
Why blue?
Blue hardly ever occurs in food. A blue earplug stands out immediately on the conveyor, in dough or in packaging. That is why blue is the standard colour for items in the production area in many plants.
Noisy machines in food plants
According to the BGN noise compendium (German), the average level at meat bowl cutters is 91.6 dB(A), at multihead weighers 89.7 dB(A) and at bottle washers 87.7 dB(A). More in the guide Detectable hearing protection in the food industry.
Correct use in four steps
- 01
Roll
With clean fingers, roll the earplug into a thin, tight cylinder.
- 02
Pull the ear
With the other hand, gently pull the ear up and back to straighten the ear canal.
- 03
Insert
Push the earplug quickly and deeply into the ear canal.
- 04
Hold
Hold it in place with a finger for 30 to 60 seconds until the foam has expanded. Remove slowly with a twisting motion.

Frequently asked questions
What does metal-detectable mean for earplugs?
The cord contains brass. If an earplug falls into the product, a metal detector on the production line can pick it up.
Does every metal detector detect the cord?
That depends on the detector, its settings and the product. Check detection with a sample on your own line.
How strongly do the detectable earplugs attenuate?
SNR 37 dB to EN 352-2:2020, like the other foam earplugs of the EP1227 series.
